3 Formas en que Puedes Ayudar a tu Hijo a Tener Éxito en la Vida

3 Formas en que Puedes Ayudar a tu Hijo a Tener Éxito en la Vida How can we help our children in their learning? What are the benefits of comprehensive education? How can I help my child in his or her life project? What opportunities does a child need to develop their talents? What do children need to thrive or reach their full potential? What are the indispensable skills for a successful future? How do I prepare my child for life? The answer is simple, it all starts at home and in the classroom: from early education. As educators at a world-class school, such as American School International [ASI], we understand how challenging it is for many parents to choose an education that adapts to the changing world we live in. As parents, who doesn’t want their child to grow up in a safe space where they can grow personally and professionally, and when they leave school they are prepared to succeed in life. Provide a Comprehensive Education for Your Child But how can I prepare my child for life? At ASI we are convinced that preschool education is the most important form of education. It is essential to start the learning process under a continuous methodology adapted to the real world, since the basis of learning is consolidated in the first years of life. During this period, children’s brains are constantly and rapidly learning. This stage is crucial for language proficiency, psychomotor development, and communicative ability. That said, what would be the most important skills that students should acquire in the classroom? Critical thinking and problem solving. Collaboration and leadership by influence. Agility and adaptability. Initiative and entrepreneurship. Good oral and written communication. Access to and analysis of information. Curiosity and imagination. Let’s remember that success goes far beyond academics, soft and hard skills are and will continue to be the key to training well-rounded professionals. Allow Your Child to Learn From Their Own Experiences As parents, we sometimes tend to teach our children what to think or how to think about certain things. It is quite possible that this happens because we have already been given certain ideas as «valid» and we inherited them without further consideration. However, we believe that it is much more important that we teach our children to think, since many times we tend to «spare them suffering» by preventing them from making their own decisions. The reality is that letting them live their own experiences, learn to think for themselves, let them look for their own solutions and make a decision is the best practice for them to be critical, engaged, safer and less fearful adults. At ASI, our STEAM methodology goes hand in hand with «letting them experiment and learn by doing». Educate Your Child in English Giving your children the gift of «bilingualism» can enrich their lives. Let us remember that in an increasingly globalized and diverse world, the ability to speak more than one language can offer you social, economic and intellectual advantages. Why? Here is a breakdown of the benefits of educating your children with a complete education in English: It allows them to develop vocabulary and grammar. It creates greater mental flexibility for them. It allows them to further develop cognitive skills. It helps them boost memory. It creates a more flexible and efficient brain for them. It creates international opportunities for them (social and professional). It gives them greater creativity. It allows them to learn other languages more quickly. It contributes to personal growth, as well as self-esteem. At ASI we prepare our students by educating in English as their primary language. By becoming fluent in this language, our students will be prepared to be admitted to the best universities in the world and be competitive in the global marketplace. Prepare Your Child for a Globalized World At ASI our commitment is to your children, our students, who deserve a comprehensive education that not only works for them in their professional lives, but also in their personal and social lives. We are convinced that primary education is the basis of everything, and that is why our academic offer has been developed to help young people meet the challenges of the 1st century. Within the ASI classrooms we promote a dynamic, associative and cooperative environment of group learning, so that students learn to live in community, respecting different thoughts and individual cultures. We live in a time where empathy is one of the most important values, which is acquired through integral education.

This is one of the questions that many parents ask themselves when choosing an educational center for their children. Languages Keep Your Brain Healthy for a Lifetime Did you know that speaking two or more languages can help us have global job opportunities, or even make us happier and have better personal relationships in our lives?  At American School International (ASI) we know that choosing a school that provides a well-rounded education in English is essential for children. Language is a crucial component of the brain’s lifespan functioning and plays a crucial role in neural connections. Learning a variety of languages during childhood improves a myriad of cognitive skills, making the brain more adept at switching between tasks, focusing in a busy environment, such as the classroom, and remembering things. According to several studies, learning and using two languages makes children smarter. Choosing a school with English as the main language is essential for children because it allows them to progress from the early stages in learning a second language, which means that it will be easier for them to acquire or reinforce the knowledge. In addition to the cognitive benefits, a bilingual education guarantees your student a variety of global opportunities. In this article, we will share many of the benefits of growing up in a multicultural environment. Cognitive Benefits As we mentioned in our previous article, a bilingual education can support the executive function of the brain. Research has shown that, thanks to the simultaneous use of both languages, people who speak several languages develop skills for functions such as inhibition, attention shifting, and working memory. As a result, students who receive a well-rounded education in English tend to perform better in jobs that require multitasking, decision-making, and problem-solving. Professional Benefits The methodology taught within the American School International [ASI] educational center has as its goal the «what happens after school» and we know that being fluent in an additional language can make your student stand out when looking for opportunities in the job market. At the same time, it opens doors to global opportunities that are not usually available to those who speak only one language. Many international companies are increasingly looking for bilingual employees due to factors such as globalization. We are talking about job opportunities with significant incentives that are reserved for candidates who are proficient in more than one language. For example, in a study conducted by The Economist Intelligence Unit, «nearly 90 percent of managers noted that better cross-border communication would improve profitability, while another study found that 79 percent of companies that have invested in their workers’ English skills have experienced an increase in sales.» Social Benefits Language is not only about learning sets of words and grammar, but also about discovering another culture and another way of life. The advantage of an education in English gives children a broader perspective and brings them closer to different realities and nationalities. Speaking English (bilingualism) boosts biculturality (or multiculturalism if more than two languages are spoken), a significant advantage in today’s borderless world and an important skill when it comes to traveling and getting to know new cultures and people. In an ever-changing world, where communication is increasingly important, children who can communicate with a variety of cultures are the ones who will have the greatest advantage in life. When to Consider English Education? Choosing the educational model your children should study is a crucial decision for your student’s future. Therefore, access to a full education in English must also be considered. Your choice can be determined by many factors, such as where you live, the schools available in the area, and the quality of teaching at the school. Many people confuse international schools with schools whose primary language is English (bilingual). In general, an international school promotes education in an international and diverse environment, meeting local requirements, while offering high-level language instruction and fostering cultural and global awareness. In a bilingual school, they will be able to follow the national curriculum while learning a second language. Don’t forget that any second language can be beneficial for your child. Benefits of Your Child Studying at ASI, Costa Verde American School International (ASI), a school whose primary language is English, offers a wide range of high-quality programs such as social science concepts of history, civics, economics, and geography in a research-based format to develop a caring and informed global population, while creating a unique environment in which students can learn across different cultures and languages. We are committed to your child, our student, who deserves a well-rounded education that will serve them not only in their professional career, but also in their personal and social lives. We firmly believe that primary education is the foundation of everything, which is why our academic programs are designed to prepare young people for the challenges of the 21st century. The purpose of the school is to help prepare students for their future by fostering language proficiency, preparing them for university access abroad. We live in a time where empathy is one of the most important values that is acquired through a comprehensive education. ¿Qué es la Educación STEAM y Cuáles son sus Beneficios?

¿Qué es la Educación STEAM y Cuáles son sus Beneficios? In the education industry, it is important to prepare students for success in an ever-changing global economy. Traditional teaching methods may no longer be sufficient to prepare students for jobs that may not yet exist. That’s where STEAM education comes in.  The acronym STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. It is a pedagogical approach that focuses on hands-on, experiential learning, encouraging students to play, explore, experiment, create, and learn by doing. By incorporating real-world applications into the classroom, STEAM education helps learners develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which are essential to succeed in today’s world. Incorporating STEAM education into teaching can be beneficial for both learners and educators. It allows for a more fluid and dynamic learning environment and fosters creativity and innovation. So, if you want to really get to the heart of learning, consider a school that implements STEAM education in its classrooms. What is STEAM Education and How Does It Work? STEAM is the acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. It represents a new approach to education that focuses on integrating these five pillars into the classroom. The goal of STEAM education is to break down traditional barriers in education and create a more inclusive and dynamic learning environment. In recent years, the education sector has undergone a significant shift towards a more hands-on and experiential learning model. STEAM education brings this approach to the forefront, encouraging learners to play, explore, experiment, create, and learn by doing. By incorporating real-world applications into the classroom, STEAM education helps learners develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are essential for success in today’s world. STEAM is an innovative system that will help us guide the development of a fluid and dynamic learning environment that is relevant and prepares our learners for success in an ever-changing global economy. Experience the Benefits of STEAM Learning: Learning by Doing The STEAM educational method, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics, has evolved over the years to incorporate a more hands-on, experiential approach to learning. By the end of the first decade of the 2000s, STEAM education had incorporated art teaching to give students a more well-rounded perspective. LEGO Education is a leader in the implementation of STEAM education, which aims to create an educational environment that meets three main goals: to prepare students for success in the 21st century, to redefine the traditional classroom, and to use games to foster cognitive abilities and technical thinking. By incorporating art into the STEAM approach, students can gain a comprehensive, practical, and theoretical understanding of these four disciplines. The goal of STEAM education is to promote autonomous knowledge and encourage learners to learn by doing, rather than just passive teaching. If you want your children to be part of a dynamic and relevant learning environment that prepares them for success in an ever-changing world, consider a school that applies the STEAM method in its classrooms. Discover the Benefits of STEAM Education: A New Approach to Learning The STEAM educational method, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics, has gained popularity in education systems in Europe, North America, and other continents. It’s a trend that shows no signs of slowing down. But what makes STEAM education so beneficial? Here are some key takeaways: It encourages and develops analytical and scientific ways of thinking in students, which can be useful in decision-making outside the classroom. It provides learners with a range of technical knowledge that will be applicable in any future workplace. It helps cultivate students’ professional qualities and provides them with a more pragmatic perspective on various fields of knowledge. It allows for broad participation in any project or major and encourages students to think creatively and critically while solving problems holistically. If you want your children to be part of a dynamic and relevant learning environment that sets them up for success in an ever-changing world, consider a school that applies the STEAM method in its classrooms. Implementation of STEAM Education: From Theory to Practice The STEAM educational method places special emphasis on hands-on, experiential learning. This approach has led to the development of educational programs such as AulaPlaneta and Matic, which use an inverted approach in which out-of-classroom and face-to-face learning complement each other. To effectively apply the STEAM method, there are a few key considerations to keep in mind: Use diverse pedagogies to teach technical skills through robotics and open-source programming. Resources like Mindstorm, Lego, and Scratch can serve as inspiration. Ensure that teachers are involved in various fields of research and are able to communicate effectively with students. Adapt physical spaces and create a learning framework that allows students to design projects effectively. These spaces should be equipped with the same resources as math, science, art, engineering, and technology classrooms. The STEAM approach is based on an inclusive and future-focused perspective. This can be achieved with the commitment and effort of our teachers, who are dedicated to shaping their children’s futures. Why STEAM Education is Essential to Prepare Students for Life STEAM education, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math, is a fantastic way to get students excited about learning and applying their knowledge in the real world. It is a key component of the curriculum at ASI because it allows students to apply various disciplines to their learning and to their lives. In our classrooms, we use science experiences to help students develop critical thinking skills that will be essential to succeed in the 21st century workforce. This may involve deciding between well-designed or poorly designed experiments, or using technology, art, programming, or theories to solve problems. We believe that STEAM education is an important part of preparing students for a globalized world. It inspires them to become lifelong learners who are ready to take on any challenge that comes their way. 5 Consejos para Formar Ciudadanos Globales

5 Consejos para Formar Ciudadanos Globales In the last article, we were talking about the importance of STEAM education, and what the long-term benefits are. The importance of raising your children as global citizens cannot be overemphasized, but what are some ways to actually do it? Even when your children are young and you make the decision to help them become globally aware, how do you achieve this goal?  What is Global Citizenship? Global citizenship is how we talk about the social, environmental, and economic actions of people and communities who know that every person is a citizen of the world. It’s about how decisions made in one part of the planet can affect people living in a different part. And about how we all share a common humanity and have equal value. It means being open to engaging positively with other identities, cultures, and being able to recognize and question stereotypes. It is also about how we use and share the Earth’s resources fairly and defend the human rights of all. What Does It Mean to Be a Global Citizen? A global citizen is someone who is aware of and understands the world at large – and their place in it. They are citizens of the world. They take an active role in their community and work with others to make our planet more peaceful, sustainable, and just. Examples of Global Citizenship Global citizenship involves: Explore local and global connections and our views, values, and assumptions. Explore social justice issues locally and globally. Explore the complexity of global issues and engage with multiple perspectives. Applying learning to real-world issues and contexts. Opportunities to act in an informed way, reflect and make your voice heard. How to Train Our Children for a Globalized World? Here are five tips to help you build global citizens. 1. Read, and Then Read Some More Reading provides numerous benefits to your children. It helps them learn to empathize, teaches them how to tell stories, learn multiple languages, and if you are deliberate in what you choose to read with them, reading can pave the way for them to become global citizens. If global citizenship is one of your goals, choose stories for your children that have the following characteristics: Set in different countries. Talk about different cultures, traditions, and customs. Have diversity in your characters. 2. Volunteering Volunteering helps your children learn to use their voice to improve both the local and global community. Service learning is beneficial because it teaches children to lend a hand and teaches them their civic responsibility. 3. Teach Your Children Another Language Learning multiple languages not only improves your children’s memory, but also teaches them problem-solving and critical thinking, improves their concentration, helps them learn to multitask, and fosters great listening skills. And those are the qualities that more and more employers are looking for. Learning multiple languages also helps your children connect with others globally. 4. Travel is Essential to Raising Global Citizens In the beautiful words of St. Augustine: «The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.» To truly be aware and understand the world, your children need to experience it firsthand. Whether in the city or in the jungle, locally or internationally, in the developed or developing world, these types of trips help your children foster life skills such as cooperation, service, and interpersonal communication, as well as build a connected community through an appreciation and understanding of different cultures and environments. When your children travel – especially when it’s with their school – they become independent, collaborative, and develop personal skills. 5. Enroll Your Children in an International School An international school like ASI incorporates into its curriculum language, service learning, international-mindedness, travel, and the importance of reading, all of which have been noted above as integral to raising a global citizen. In an international school, diversity is at the heart of everything. Pupils, teachers, support staff and the parent community come from all walks of life. Global Citizenship Education For ASI, global citizenship is about encouraging young people to develop the knowledge, skills and values they need to engage with the world. And it’s about the belief that we can all make a difference. Global citizenship education is not an add-on subject, but a learning framework that goes beyond school and extends to the wider community. It can be promoted in class through the existing curriculum or through new initiatives and activities.
